On Friday, May 23 at 6:30 PM, in partnership with our good friends at Back of Beyond Books, we’ll welcome Ms. Maggie Dewane, author of a new book of eco-poetry called “Haiku and Hope: 50 States of Climate Change.” Maggie will not only read us some of her charming poems, but will lead a nature-inspired poetry workshop where she will discuss the benefits of nature journaling and guide participants through using haiku poetry as a tool of creative expression.
Christopher will demonstrate some of the exciting things he has learned in his studies and share with families how studying martial arts has helped him combat some of the various challenges he faces with autism, such as focus, social interactions, sensory sensitivities and behavior patterns.
Entomology is the study of insects. To most humans, “bugs” describe anything that is small and wiggly with six or more legs. To scientists, “bugs” are a very specific type of insect. To us cats, they’re nature’s equivalent of a ribbon on a stick: jumpy, twitchy, and hours of fun.
