Meowdy, fabulous humans! It’s me, Cosmo—the one and only Library Cat, Science Buff, and Feline Film Critic!

As your whiskered representative of all things newsworthy at Grand County Public Library, I come bearing purr-suasive news: two amazing events are happening next week as part of our Color Our World Summer Reading Program, and I insist you join us (or at least pretend you came so I feel important).

Mad Science!

On  Tuesday, June 3 at 2 p.m. at Star Hall, prepare to be dazzled by Mad Science of Greater Salt Lake City! These clever humans will wow us with color-changing chemistry, light-bending prisms, and other paws-itively mind-blowing experiments. Expect rainbows, reactions, and radiant revelations! Bonus: I hear the grand finale is a literal burst of color. Fur real.

Summer Reading Kick-off Party!

Then, on Friday, June 6 at 6 p.m. the festivities continue in the Sun Court next to Star Hall for our Summer Reading Kick-off Party! There’ll be popcorn, snow cones (no judgment if you eat three), giant bubbles (perfect for chasing), and sidewalk chalk galore. Once we’ve colored the court in glorious, chaotic beauty, we’ll tiptoe (or trot) into Star Hall for a showing of “Inside Out 2”—a film with all the feels, ideal for any emotionally complex teen or tabby.

And guess what? Both events are FREE and purr-fect for all ages. No need to bring catnip, just your curiosity and maybe a comfy blanket for the movie (yes, naps are allowed—again, no judgment).

And beginning May 30, you can register for our Summer Reading Challenge on the Beanstack app (which, unfortunately, is not edible), or come to the library in person, where the nice humans—aka librarians—will help you out. Prefer paper? We’ve got good ol’ fashioned reading logs too. I may or may not use them as bedding. There are tons of fun and practical prize-drawings you can enter with tickets earned by the reading you’re doing anyway!

So, get out your bookmarks, fluff your whiskers and mark your calendars—I’ll be watching from the circulation desk…or napping on it.
