Meeting At a Glance: Grand County Commission, August 15

Commissioners at the August 15 meeting of the Grand County Commission meeting expressed gratitude to departing Grand County Strategic Development Director Chris Baird and made organizational changes to better deal with the longtime public servant’s resignation.

“I accept his resignation, but it’s difficult,” said Commissioner Mary McGann with emotion. “He’s done a lot of good.”

Commissioners approved alterations to the definition of the Strategic Development Director and the finance director job descriptions to begin absorbing some budgeting responsibilities into other roles and departments.

“We’re not allowed to talk about the precise reasons people leave, but I think it’s okay to say that in both [this and the recent departure of the economic development director], neither of these were policy-related,” said Commissioner Kevin Walker.
