After falling to Monticello 58-36 on Dec. 19, 2017, the Lady Red Devils took a pre-Christmas trip to Las Vegas, where they went 1-2 versus out-of-state competition.

Grand played a pair of games against teams from Nevada, beating Las Vegas’ Durango High School 52-25 on Dec. 20, 2017, behind a career-high 30 points from Hannah Owen. Veda Gritts also had 13 points.

The following day versus Foothill High School of Henderson, Nevada, the Lady Red Devils mustered far fewer points, losing 57-16. Gritts had eight points.

On the final day of the invitational, Grand had an even smaller offensive output, falling 65-13 to Springfield, Oregon. Josie Camps scored eight points.

The Lady Red Devils bounced back in a 49-40 win over the Alumni in the inaugural Alumni Game on Dec. 29, 2017. Grand is scheduled to be back in the Devils’ Den on Friday, Jan. 5, at 7 p.m., versus Manti, and again the following afternoon at 2:30 p.m., versus North Sanpete.

The boys basketball team plays the same two foes this weekend, albeit on the road. Grand squares off with the Templars at 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 5, in Manti, and 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at North Sanpete.

The Red Devil boys did not compete over winter break after beating Green River on the road 86-49 on Wednesday, Dec. 20. Thirteen different Red Devils scored points, including four in double digits: Kevin Park and Luke Williams with 11 points apiece; and Masen Ward and Cameron Hoppensteadt with 10 each.

Grand was also scheduled to play at home versus San Juan on Wednesday, Jan. 3.

The swimming team has its first competition since Dec. 16, 2017, when it travels to Emery for region competition on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 3:45 p.m. The wrestling team also hasn’t competed since Dec. 16, 2017. The grapplers return to action at the 3A Duals at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 5 and 6
