Dear Editor:

Utah built by immigrants

Recently I had the opportunity to read the View column, “In Defense of Development,” by Curtis Wells. May I remind Mr. Wells that the “healthy economy for our community” was mostly accomplished by the back-breaking work of immigrants to Utah: Greeks, Italians, Irish and Asian.

The locals had no intention of protecting our public lands from exploitation and personal gain. Our public lands are for “the public good” and not for the personal gain of individuals who do not consider themselves a part of “E pluribus unum” of this great nation.
