In Memory Of Steven Gary Norman

June 25, 1965 – January 16, 2024

Steven Gary Norman was born on June 25, 1965, to Gary Russell Norman and Colleen McPhie Norman in Provo, Utah. He passed away on January 16, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. He was 58 years old.

Steven graduated from Timpview High School in 1984 and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Raleigh, North Carolina Mission from 1984 to 1986. He married Tamra Walker of Moab in the Salt Lake Temple on June 30, 1989. They had two daughters, Nola and AshLee.

Steven had a lifelong love for the sport of auto racing. From helping his father build race cars from the ground up to honing his art skills on the finished product, he expressed his talents in the Utah racing community. His skill as an artist with lettering and pinstripes was in demand. He operated Red Hill Town signs in Moab for many years—his artwork is well-represented throughout town.

Steven loved to fish and drive race cars and was an exceptionally talented artist. He will be remembered for his passion for life and his unwavering spirit.

He is survived by his wife, Tamra Norman; his daughters, Nola and AshLee Norman; and grandson, James. He was preceded in death by his father, Gary, and brother, Douglas.

A funeral service was held on January 25 at 11 a.m. at the Moab LDS Church (701 Locust Lane, Moab) with livestreaming on Spanish Valley Mortuary Facebook page. A small viewing was held beforehand at 10 a.m. Steven requested that everyone wear colors of their choosing other than black. He always disliked that tradition because as an artist he loved color.

Steven will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
