Grand starts the season off with a couple of wrestlers winning at the home tournament

The Grand County Red Devils hosted the Moab Red Rocks Invitational. The two-day wrestling tournament brought in 13 teams from around the Region. The Devils wrestled hard and finished 7th overall. Both Lane Peterson and Austin Paris placed 1st, Yahel Parra placed 2nd, Everett Hill placed 3rd, Natsuki Burriola placed 4th, Josh Kelley placed 6th, and both Treno DelaFuenta and Cassius Fryer placed 7th.

Unfortunately, the team had a handful of kids out sick or the team would have placed higher. Beachem Bosh and Jose Santana’s team points were greatly missed. Payton Adams, the lone female wrestler for the Devils, got to wrestle two exhibition matches to top off the weekend.

Next, the team travels to St. George on December 8 and 9 to compete at the Desert Hills Days of Thunder Duels. Coach Dennis Wells plans to have the team at full strength by then and hopes to continue to see improvement in his young wrestlers.
