Letter to the Editor: Passing on a visit to Moab

I had hoped to visit Moab this autumn to take in the beautiful scenery and tranquility of the area. I am saddened to hear, from a friend, that with the influx of UTVs and other off-road vehicles that the peace and quiet I expected to find in this lovely area is now also a rare commodity. Sadly, as seen elsewhere, these motorized forms of recreation, even when used in the town, can be heard from quite a distance, and it really does shatter the peace and natural sounds from the environment. I hope the town and the extended region around Moab will put aside some UTV-free areas that are not polluted by the incessant noise that is more commonly associated with major cities and racing tracks.
