Grand County Commissioner Evan Clapper was arrested in Silverton, Colorado on March 17 for driving under the influence of alcohol, according to an arrest report obtained by the Moab Sun News from the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado.

Clapper was charged with one count of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving an Uninsured Vehicle, Speeding, No Registration, Displaying Expired Number Plates, Failing to Stop at a Stop Sign and Obstructing a Peace Officer.

County Commission Administrator Chris Baird said the county does not have a policy regarding elected officials charged with criminal offenses but would defer to the Utah State constitution.
