To commemorate the 150th anniversary of John Wesley Powell’s Colorado river expedition, artist Glen Hopkinson recently painted seven vignettes of scenes that were recorded as journal entries during the 1869 exploration.

Hopkinson, who said he plunged into a full-time art career in 1972, has been the recipient of numerous awards, news and magazine features. Hopkinson’s exhibit was commissioned by Frank Lister with Time Traveler Maps of Mancos, Colorado.

The exhibit, including this painting titled “Hanging by a Thread,” will be on display at the Moab Information Center, located at the corner of Center and Main, through October 2019.
