Margie Faye LaBranch Phillips, 1936 – 2015

Margie Faye LaBranch Phillips passed away after a battle with cancer on Friday, September 25, 2015, with several of her family by her side.

Born on November 30, 1936, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, Marge was the only child of Lowell “Butch” and Dorothy LaBranch. She grew up in Silt and New Castle, Colorado, and moved to Moab in 1952 at the age of 16. In 1956, Margie met and married Billy Wayne Phillips and they had three children, Dana, Kirk and Kari.

Margie retired from Texas Gulf in 1999 and in 2000 began working for the Texas Gulf Credit Union, which later merged with the Grand County Credit Union, where she continued working until her untimely death. Margie loved her co-workers and looked forward to going to work and seeing the people.

Margie will be remembered for her love of her special TV shows (heaven forbid she received a call during one of her shows!), crafting, sports, her lifelong love of reading, bingo, Vegas shows, traveling, her sense of humor, her unending courage and strength and her incredible and unwavering love and support of her family.

Margie is survived by her children, Dana Palza of Logan, Utah; Kirk (Cindy) of Ignacio, Colorado; and Kari (Mike) Huts of Moab. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Erik Murphy, Matt Murphy and Heather (Dean) Murphy Dalton, all of Moab; Misha (Roger) Palza Ochsenbein of Logan; Christopher (Shonda) Phillips, Kimberli (Nick) Phillips Naranajo, all of Ignacio; Cassie Palza of Logan; and Kevin Murphy of Salt Lake City; and her nine great grandchildren: Shaley Larsen, Katelyn Murphy, Josalyn Murphy, Gracelyn Faye Naranajo, Kira Hansen, Kendal Dalton, Colt Phillips and Lillian Dalton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; both of her parents; and her son-in-law, Dennis Palza.

Margie will be sorely missed by all who knew her, and loved by so many.

A memorial service was held at the Moab Baptist Church on September 29, 2015.
