Harlem comes to Moab

New York Festival of Song pianist John Musto (left), tenor singer Robert Mack, soprano Julia Bullock and baritone James Martin visited Grand County High School on Thursday, Sept. 10, to teach students about the Harlem Renaissance. They sang, performed poetry and read newspaper articles from the era to give students an appreciation for the vibrant period in African American culture, music and history. The musicians were in town to perform at the Moab Music Festival. The New York Festival of Song has a strong connection with Moab: It was founded by Steven Blier and Moab Music Festival Music Director Michael Barrett.
