Ryan Guldon, from Denver, Colo., finishes the last stage of the Desert RATS stage race on Saturday morning, June 21. He finished the 148-mile race from Grand Junction Colo., to Moab in 22 hours and 46 minutes, beating his personal record from last year and missing the course record by an hour and 20 minutes. There were 15 participants this year: nine male and six female. Runners ended the six-day race with a full marathon ending in the Slickrock trailhead parking lot. Mileage varied between nine and 52 miles per stage. "It's such a shared experience out there," Racer Liaison Kurt Egli said. "It's just run, rest, refuel, repeat, there are no distractions. That's what makes the event so special." [Photo by Bethany Blitz / Moab Sun News]
