Fire fighter trainees from many federal and state agencies around southern Utah gathered in Moab last week for Basic Wildland Fire School. The training went for eight hours a day from June 9 to June 13. This was the first of a series of courses that are standard for fire training procedures. The first part of the course was in the classroom, but later the trainees went through a live training experience near Ken's Lake. Course leader Mark Marcum said the course "really lets people know if this is something they want to do or not." [Photo by Bethany Blitz/Moab Sun News]
