One year ago this week I wrote an editorial about the Purple Bench Idea. I am amazed at the strong interest regarding this simple, free, grassroots effort to meet local transportation needs. The idea in brief is for local residents to place benches on their property out of the road right of way. When others drive by a bench with an occupant, they will know that the person needs a ride in that direction.
I am happy to say that WabiSabi has stepped forward with a grant to help get the word out. Anyone interested in this government-free solution should attend the meeting at 5:15 pm, Thursday, Nov. 29 at the Grand County Library meeting room or call me at 435-220-0185 for details.
