Trail Mix Volunteer Work Party

July 7, 8, 9th, – Camp, Work, Ride, Grill, Camp, Ride!!
Trail Mix and GCATT are joining forces to host two work party campouts in the La Sal Mountains this Summer. The first work party will be on July 7th and work will be focused on brushing and tread work on lower Hazard County trail. Join us after the workday for an evening shuttle lap on Hazard County provided by Moab Cyclery, followed by grilling and camping at the Mason Draw Campground.
* Riding not required, you can also go on a nice hike, run or just enjoy the view!
Weekend Schedule
Friday
Friday night camping will be available at the Mason Draw Campground for anyone who wants to camp out prior to the workday. Join Colin Topper, the Chair of the Trail Mix Committee in a smores making workshop and spooky campfire stories.
Saturday – The big workday!
– 9am – Meet near the bottom of the Hazard County trail at the Castle Valley Overlook / Kokopelli drop off point on the La Sal Loop Road
– 9am – 4 pm Trail work! Crews will split up and work on cutting back vegetation, tread work and whatever else we find. Please bring clothing appropriate for trail work (closed toe shoes and pants required) and food and water for the day.
– 5 pm shuttle provided for volunteers from the Mason Draw Campground to the top of Hazard County trail for a shuttle lap to enjoy the fruits of your labor!
– 6pm Dinner and camping! At the Mason Draw Campground Pete from Moab Cyclery will be grilling, and Trail Mix will provide chips and beverages.
Sunday
GCATT will provide a light cold breakfast (cereal, milk, yogurt, berries)
9am Group ride! Shuttle will be provided from the Mason Draw Campground for a group ride on Moonlight Meadows to Hazard County.

Between camping, crew leaders needed, shuttles and food there’s a lot of planning for this event and we don’t know if you’re coming if you don’t tell us. So please even if you’re thinking of coming, let us know.
