Hi everyone, it’s Cosmo the Library Cat. As I’ve mentioned before, I am very artistic. I believe most people are artistic by nature; sometimes they just need a chance to cultivate their talents. This is why I wanted to let you know about resources available at the Grand County Public Library that teach drawing for all ages and skill levels.
For example, “Ed Emberley’s Complete FunPrint Drawing Book” shows how to use thumbprints and fingerprints to draw all sorts of things! This book is great for beginning artists and for anyone who likes to use thumbprints (or pawprints) to create art. For more advanced drawing techniques, check out “How to Draw Cool Stuff: A Drawing Guide for Teachers and Students” and its sequel, “How to Draw Cool Stuff: Shading Texture Pattern, Optical Illusions.” These are just a few of the books about drawing available in the children’s room.
We also have how-to art books in our adult section, including my favorite book about loosening up and getting creative, “Picture This: The Near-sighted Monkey Book” by the inimitable Lynda Barry as well as the classic “Techniques of Drawing” by Fred Gettings.
