A dachshund named Reese is safe after first responders found the dog stuck to a tamarisk branch after becoming lost and swimming in the Colorado River during peak flow on June 16. The Grand County Sheriff’s Office, Utah Division of State Parks and Recreation and the Bureau of Land Management coordinated the rescue effort after Reese was reported missing for more than 24 hours. Reese’s owner was camping and exploring Moonflower Canyon when the dog became lost, said Rachel Wootton, public affairs specialist at the Bureau of Land Management.
