The Grand County High School volleyball team won three matches and lost four at the Sevier Valley Invitational, which took place on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 6 and 7, in Richfield.
Grand played three matches on Friday, falling 2-0 to North Summit, defeating Manti 2-0 and falling 2-0 to Panguitch. At the tournament, winners were the first team to win two games. In regular matches, the first team to win three games wins the match.
The Lady Red Devils fared better on Saturday, winning their first two matches of the day as they defeated North Sevier 2-0 and Carbon 2-1. They lost to Emery 2-0 before being placed in the Copper Bracket, where they lost 2-1 to South Summit to conclude the tournament.
Grand has three region road matches this week to conclude the regular season. The Lady Red Devils play Manti on Friday, Oct. 13. Freshmen games begin at 3 p.m., with JV and varsity to follow immediately after as the Templars also have a home football game. The following afternoon at 3:30 p.m., the varsity team takes on North Sanpete. Grand’s regular season finale is against San Juan in Blanding on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m.
The Lady Red Devils are currently fifth in the Region 15 standings with a 3-6 record. Should the Lady Red Devils remain in the top six, they’ll qualify for the state tournament, which takes place on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 25 and 26, at the UCCU Center in Orem.
