Max Leroy Croasmun, July 14, 1939 – November 3, 2016

Max Leroy Croasmun went to be with the Lord on November 3, 2016.

He was born on July 14, 1939, in Bountiful, Colorado, to Grant B. and Addie B. Croasmun. They moved to Hot Springs (Truth or Consequences), New Mexico, when he was four.

His parents moved to Monticello, Utah, in 1954, but he returned to Truth or Consequences to finish school. He graduated in May 1957. He was planning to join the Air Force and took a trip to Utah to visit his parents. His plans took another turn when he met the love of his life there. After a whirlwind courtship, he and Roberta Eggers were married on June 25, 1957. People said they were too young and it would never last.

To this union were born three wonderful children. Then, as they married, they added three more children (he didn’t have any in-laws, only children): Dona and (Rick) Holder; Steve and (Dawn) Croasmun; and Deborah and (Dean) Donathan.

He had nine grandchildren plus four more through marriage: Bambi and Will Sharp; Tiffany Holder; Brittany and Jamie Nichols; Cody Croasmun; Dezere’ Croasmun; Tyler Croasmun; Morgan and Kristen Donathan; Sheila and Mat Woolcott; and Brandon Donathan.

And 14 great-grandchilden: Nicholas, Faline and Raelyn Sharp; Ryker and Paige Holder; Brant and Mason Nichols; Shaylee Donathan, Matthew, Jaxson and Weston Woolcott; Katie, Emma Roberta and Grayson Max Donathan.

Max was a truck driver most of his life. In 1969, he felt God call him to go to Shirley Basin, Wyoming, to help start a church where he pastored until November 1973. Then he moved his family back to Moab, where he and his brother Jerry owned a tire shop. He then went back to driving trucks until he retired in 2010.

Max enjoyed hunting, camping and gardening (especially his roses and flowers). He adored his family and couldn’t spend enough time with them. He loved his pastor and all of his church family. Most of all, he loved God and served him faithfully.

He was preceded in death by both parents, two grandbabies, and his brothers R.G. and Jerry. He is survived by his wife of 59-and-a-half years, Roberta, and his three children: Dona and (Rick) Holder; Steve and (Dawn) Croasmun; and Deborah and (Dean) Donathan. He is also survived by nine (13) grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

His services were held on November 8, 2016, at the Community Church. A viewing was held on November 7 at Spanish Valley Mortuary.

A memorial fund has been set up in lieu of flowers at Wells Fargo Bank: Max Croasmun Memorial Fund.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.SpanishValleyMortuary.com.
