Cosmo’s Cards of Kindness campaign

Cosmo poses with the Cards of Kindness collection box.

Greetings from Cosmo the Library Cat! Have you ever noticed how getting a card or letter can really make someone happy? Once I got a greeting card mailed to me all the way from England and it made me smile for days!

I mentioned this to the children’s librarians at Grand County Public Library and they decided to do something nice for the senior citizens living at Canyonlands Care Center: They’ve created Take and Make bags with all the supplies needed to make a colorful card. While supplies last, you youngsters can come to pick up one of these kits and take it home to make your original creation. The librarians will even deliver the cards for us! All we have to do is bring them back to the library any time before Wednesday, June 1 and pop them into a special “mailbox” located in the Children’s Room.

The librarians are making Spring themed cards with birds, bees, and butterflies on them, but I’m thinking a little outside the (mail) box for this one—my card will feature a ball of yarn and a scratching post. I don’t know exactly who will receive it, but who doesn’t like that stuff? I hope it’ll help them have a “cat-terrific” day! What’s that you say? I should add a picture of myself to the card? Great idea!

If the Take and Make bags run out before you get here, just ask and the librarians will give you some supplies to make a card anyway. I’ll be happy to pose for anyone who needs inspiration. Let’s get to work wishing someone a nice day!
