Moab Regional Hospital welcomes orthopedic surgeon

Dr. Kimberly Franke will give a presentation on shoulder pain and strategies to help alleviate symptoms as part of Moab Regional Hospital’s “Dinner with a Doc” series on Dec. 18 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The event is free and dinner is provided.

Moab Regional Hospital has been steadily increasing its available services and is pleased to welcome Dr. Franke to the General Orthopedist team. Dr. Franke specializes in shoulder replacements, shoulder instability, rotator cuff repair, and fractures but also performs general orthopedic surgery, including knee reconstructions and hip replacements.

Dr. Franke grew up in Bozeman, Montana, where she developed a love for mountain biking, climbing, canyoneering, skiing, and snowboarding. She has a passion for helping people get back to the activities they love. Dr. Franke started off as a mechanical engineer but decided to pursue orthopedic surgery to get away from the computer cubicle and, instead, directly interact with patients.

“Working as a mechanical engineer, I became interested in applying engineering to medicine,” she says. “Orthopedic surgery is a great combination of these two! I perform all types of orthopedic surgery and have extra training in shoulder and elbow surgery, such as shoulder replacements and rotator cuff repairs. My goal is to help people stay active, so they can continue to do the activities they enjoy.”
