JoAnn Davis Key, November 30, 1937 – July 14, 2018

JoAnn Davis Key, 80, died peacefully on July 14 at Moab Regional Hospital.

She was born on November 30, 1937, in Moab, to Clay and Velda Perkins Davis. She married the love of her life, Corky Key, on Christmas Eve in 1955.

Family was everything to JoaAnn. Her life was spent in the service to all around her. Nobody could go to Joann’s house without being made to feel as though they were part of her family. Her dedication to her family was felt by all, and many fond memories are shared of the gatherings, dinners and parties that were a regular occurrence at Mimi’s house. Her annual Christmas Eve party, that was much a celebration of her family as it was of her anniversary, was the gathering of the year for the Keys. She was never happier than when the family was all gathered under one roof to enjoy a meal together.

Mimi was a hard worker. After her marriage, she went to work alongside Corky and helped with everything from driving trucks to bookkeeping for Key Construction, and cleaning rooms and washing laundry when they opened the Rustic Inn. She served as president of the Ladies of Elks for two years and participated on many bowling leagues over the years. She was always there to do what was needed to be done and to care for those around her.

Her home was always open to those who needed help or a place to stay. Her dedication to her family will live on in the memories of those who knew her. Her legacy is her family.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Corky Key; four children, Kenny(Kathy) Key; Tammy (Dee) Taylor; Danny (Mary) Key; Karen (Jim) Braggs; her brother, Norman (Bev) Davis; 10 grandchildren, Kalista (Jason) Wickham; Kendra (Jair) West; Korena (Adam) Thomas; Ryan (Nicole) Taylor; Mike (Heather) Taylor; Logan (TJ) Brewer; Stephen (Lynasa) Key; Tyler (Chrystal) Braggs; Kelby Braggs; Aaron Braggs; and 20 great-grandchildren, and many life-long friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Velda and Clay Davis, and a grandson, Kristopher Allen Key.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 20, at 10 a.m. at the Moab LDS 400 North chapel. A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Spanish Valley Mortuary, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at the Grand Valley Cemetery.
