Dear Editor:
I said something on Thursday, July 19, to someone I respect and admire that was evil.
It wasn’t “not nice,” it was pure evil and the minute it left my mouth I was in shock I even said it.
I apologized immediately, but there was no taking those words back. My relationship with that person is broken forever and with all who overheard. I am very sad because I was mean and spiteful unnecessarily and I caused grief that I can never take back or heal. I am not that kind of person, or, at least, I do not want to be that kind of person.
My point of this letter is that we should take stock of our words and use them wisely, something I have not done. The old saying “sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me” is not true now and has never been. Words can and do cause serious injury.
Let us all take stock of our words and make sure that when we disagree with someone we still treat them with kindness and respect.
With all that is happening in our community and globally we should always remember that the recipient of our diatribes is a person who feels just as passionately as we do, and we should not be evil to them just as we wish for them to not be evil to us.
