The Moab City Police Department responded this week to a report that two people circulated counterfeit currency at a local business.
The manager advised an officer that a man and a woman presented two $100 bills as payment for items they purchased on the evening of Sunday, Oct. 29. The clerk did not realize that the bills were counterfeit.
The police department encourages local businesses to instruct their employees to test any large bills for authenticity before they accept them for payment. Several companies make counterfeit detection markers that can be used to detect whether or not currency is authentic.
