Randy Evans, a longtime resident of Moab and storyteller extraordinaire, went peacefully onto his next adventure on May 18, 2016, after a short battle with cancer.
Randy was born on October 11, 1949, in Salt Lake City to Ken and Georgene Evans. He graduated from Skyline High School in 1968 and from the University of Utah in 1975. His son Arlo was born in 1977.
Randy moved to Moab in 1989 and held a multitude of jobs, including soda jerk, guide and insertion and extraction specialist. Most, however, will remember him as a premier storyteller and prankster.
Even in his last days, he delighted in scaring the nurses with “Reggie the Rat.”
Randy is survived by his son Arlo; granddaughter Cassandra Dawn Evans Dalton; brother Dennis; and sisters Leslie, Claudia and Patricia.
A memorial will be held in early fall 2016 where his family and all of his friends can celebrate Randy and share stories. The date will be posted when the time gets closer.
