Hello, meow, and good day, readers! I’m here today with an invitation to a special event next Tuesday, July 23, at 2 p.m. at the Center Street Ballfields: a Bottle Rocket Adventure! This event will be the explosive finale of the Grand County Library’s Summer Reading Program series.
Longtime fans of library programs will remember bottle rockets from past summers. We use giant compressors and powerful streams of water to launch bottles high into the sky! Hiss! Pop! Crack! Bottles go flying! We’ll also have other water-based activities and even some sweet candy-powered explosions! (Don’t worry, parents and fire marshals; all explosions are liquid-powered and carefully controlled!)
This event will be outside in the sun so dress to stay cool and get splashed! It would be nice to launch the rockets inside the library, but it would probably disrupt the usual library activities. Plus, I’ve heard water isn’t great for books. Anyway, like I told the librarians, if anything’s going to be hissing and flying in this library, it’s going to be me and the fur of my foes! (I’m joking, of course; with my natural charisma and peaceful ways, I don’t have any enemies, unless you count that one gray neighbor cat who teases me sometimes.)
This event is geared towards kids of all ages and their caregivers. However, anyone is welcome. We hope to see you there!
