Cosmo’s Corner: Scales & Tails

A word from the library cat

Meow and hello friends, it’s Cosmo: library cat and amateur naturalist.

I’ve spent hours observing birds and lizards in the library’s courtyard, and I have so many questions about these fascinating animals: Is flying as fun as it looks? How do bugs taste? And how do animals cope with having leathery scales and downy feathers instead of lustrous, cozy fur like me? Do they cry themselves to sleep every night or are they used to it by now?

If you share my fascination with these wonderful creatures I have great news for you!

As part of Grand County Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, Scales and Tails Utah will be at Star Hall on Tuesday, July 2 at 2 p.m. for a free, interactive animal adventure!

Scales and Tails is a family-run reptile and bird education and entertainment company. Their mission is to “provide safe, educational and interactive shows and tours to teach people about reptiles and birds in order to foster a desire to learn about science, protect our ecosystems, and promote conservation.”

Animal ambassadors as educators? Wonder where they got such a great idea! I can’t wait for this show and I hope to see you all there!
