Meow and hello, my friends! It’s Cosmo the library cat, here to invite you to one of the most fun events of the summer: Grand County Library’s Summer Reading Kick-Off Party.
“Adventure Begins at Your Library” is this year’s theme and we’re pretty sure you know all about having great adventures! Please join us at the Center Street Ballfields on Friday, June 7 at 6:30 p.m. We’ll have giant bubbles! A photo tent where we’ll snap a Polaroid picture of you to take home! Ice cream sandwiches! Music! A collaborative chalk art mural and more! The party will provide just the right amount of adventure, it’s free and all ages are welcome.
The Summer Reading Program is our way to celebrate you, the library patrons of Grand County! Throughout the summer, we’ll have special weekly programming for kids, and readers of all ages can earn awesome prizes just for reading! Local businesses donate prizes, and I assure you this year’s list is top-shelf. The reading challenge runs from June 3 through August 11, and prize drawings will be held on August 12.
You don’t need to have a library card to participate in the reading program, and you don’t need to join the reading program to come to the party. But in my humble opinion, you should do all three! You can get more information about our Summer Reading Program at tinyurl.com/gcplreads or just stop by and talk to a library staff member at the party.
I’m a popular guy so I get invited to many parties, and I can tell you this is the do-not-miss event of the summer. I’ll either mingle with guests or rest in my VIP tent, so make sure you say hello if you see me. The librarians say ice cream is bad for cats so please don’t offer me any (if anyone is watching). Hope to see you there!
