Meow and hello my friends! As a Library Cat, I’m not often asked for advice, which is a shame because cats know many things! In the spirit of giving back to the community, I’ve offered my wisdom to these letter writers:
Dear Cosmo,
I’m expecting my first child soon. I’m excited but tired of talking about it at work! My coworkers won’t stop asking me how I’m feeling and what my plans are for when the baby comes. Any advice?
–Grand in Grand County
Dear Grand,
I am often the most interesting thing happening at my workplace, so I can relate! It sounds like your colleagues need a new hobby. The Grand County Public Library can help. We have books about hobbies from cooking to needlepoint to rock climbing. The next time the water cooler talk turns to you, tell them to swing by the library and check out a new lease on life! P.S. We have tons of books for new and expectant parents at the library, including the hilarious “Let’s Panic About Babies!” And when your wee kitten arrives, we look forward to seeing both of you in the library!
Dear Cosmo,
I used to love my job but now I find myself dreading going into work. How can I get my motivation back?
–Unmotivated Utahn
Dear Unmotivated,
This sounds familiar–I used to love being a regular cat, but one day I woke up and was just so over it. I realized I had to change jobs, so I walked into the library and applied for the job of Library Cat. You can use the library to find a new career path too! Use our computers to polish up your resume or check out our online resources at www.moablibrary.org–click on the “Resources” tab and scroll down to “Jobs & Careers.”
Dear Cosmo,
I’ve been single for years, and I love it! My problem? People keep asking for my number. I don’t want to be rude, but I’m also not looking for a date. I am friendly but not overly so, and my friends compliment my looks, but I wouldn’t say I’m a super model or anything. What should I do about all this unwanted attention?
–Desert Solitude
Dear Desert,
Take it from me, there’s nothing wrong with being universally admired! But if you’re tired of all the attention, come down to the Moab Library branch and stand next to me for a while. I promise you that the adoring crowds will pay you no mind once they get a peep at my magnificent whiskers! Just one of the many services we offer at the Grand County Public Library. You’re welcome.
