Grand County High School staff have announced that seniors Rowan Phillips and Ashlyn Grace Dalton are the February students of the month.
Rowan Phillips (parents Kristi Nichols and Dan Phillips) isn’t afraid of a challenge. His favorite class is currently physics since, despite the challenge, the subject is interesting and he can work on problems with friends. Phillips plays on the soccer, cross country, track and basketball teams as well as participating in DECA, the Honor Society and band. Outside of school, Rowan referees youth soccer games and works at Pasta Jay’s. After high school, he plans to attend college but hasn’t decided where.
Ashlyn Grace Dalton (parents Kathryn and Shaun Dalton) thinks about her future seriously. Her favorite classes tend to be in Career and Technical Education tracks. “I enjoy the creative aspects of them and how they connect to possible career paths,” she said. Ashlyn works with Upward Bound, the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America and is a Sterling Scholar. She also volunteers as a tutor with BEACON Afterschool. After graduation, Ashlyn plans to head to the University of Utah to get an advanced degree in architecture.
