March 4, 1948 – November 7, 2023
Marilyn Lily returned peacefully to her creator in the early morning hours of November 7, 2023. Marilyn was born on March 4, 1948, to Lois and Spencer Rohlfing in Salt Lake City. She grew up in the suburbs of Salt Lake City with her sister, Susan, and brother, Alan, both of whom she remained close to until the time of her ascent.
Marilyn met and married Colin Fryer. The two produced three wonderful children: Jesse, Will and Megan. All three were the wonder of her life. With her unconditional love, she nurtured and raised them to become amazing humans. In turn, Marilyn was blessed with four grandchildren. Cassius was the first miracle followed by Daniel, Evan and Millicent. Her children and her grandchildren were her life and she considered them her greatest accomplishment.
After spending time in Montana, New Mexico, Mexico and Northern California, Marilyn returned to Utah to be closer to her family. She eventually moved to Moab to enter her new position as Grandma. In Moab, she submersed herself with her growing family. She spent much of her time nurturing the development of her grandchildren and grandpuppies.
Marilyn had several gifts, including being a great artist. Her light and wisdom were bountiful. Her presence was warm and calming. Marilyn was always optimistic and non-judgmental; anyone could sit and talk to her about anything and the conversation left them feeling fulfilled. She always carried wisdom and understanding. A void has been left in the lives of those of us blessed by her. She will be missed infinitely.
Marilyn was a wonderful human and mother. She loved to travel and had a strong connection to the earth and culture. She was wise beyond her years. She could brighten the grayest of days. Marilyn’s spirituality was vast and strongly connected from the cosmos to Mother Earth. Marilyn was many things: conscious would be one word to describe her.
At Marilyn’s request, cremation has taken place. Friends and family are planning a celebration of life for the spring of 2024.
