Lilah Garcia is the seventh-grade student of the month at Margaret L. Hopkin Middle School. Teachers say that Lilah is kind, helpful, and always works well with her peers. She participates in class and tries her very best. Lilah takes pride in her work and puts her academics first. She doesn’t have to be asked to get things done: she always takes the initiative. Lilah likes to dance, tumble, and swim. Her favorite color is lavender and she has a dog that she loves. Lilah’s favorite place is Florida and her favorite class is Art. Her advice to her classmates? “Get to class on time with everything ready to go.”
The eighth-grade student of the month is Grace Birdwell. Staff say that Grace is very deserving because she is an excellent example to her classmates and a model student. She volunteers to read aloud and gives insightful comments to group discussions. She asks thoughtful questions and demonstrates a true love of learning. Grace is a natural leader and a well-rounded individual. She plays volleyball, basketball, and softball. She also rock climbs, canyoneers, and plays the piano. Grace has three dogs and her favorite animal is a penguin. Someday, she hopes to visit Ireland and Finland. Her advice to others: “If you want to be good at something, you have to practice!”
