Cosmo’s Corner: A few more weeks of crafty winter

Hello friends! Forget what I said last week about Spring being around the corner. It looks like we have a few more weeks of indoor weather ahead of us. Not to worry though: the Grand County Public Library has ideas to help you stay busy. How? Crafting!

The librarians have helpfully put together a display of their favorite craft books such as “CraftFail: When Homemade Goes Horribly Wrong” (hilarious!), “The Complete Photo Guide to Ribbon Crafts” (who doesn’t love ribbons?), and “Origami in Action: Paper Toys that Fly, Flap, Gobble, and Explode!” (enough said!). It’s not just books either. Your library card also gives you free access to thousands of online art and craft classes taught by real artists! Head to www.moablibrary.org and look for “CreativeBug” under the Resources tab.

Finally, I need to explain this photo. I have fallen victim to a new craze, and one tiny craft book is to blame.

It all started when the librarians got a new book called “Cat Hair: Hats for Cats”, a how-to book that teaches you the art of making hats for cats out of their own hair. For a week now, the librarians have been passing this book back and forth, howling with laughter, and hiding the cover and getting very very quiet whenever I enter the room. There was also a suspicious uptick in the combing and brushing of yours truly. It’s a wonder I’m not totally bald. But I swear I didn’t see this coming. On the plus side, I’m sure they have catnip in Valhalla. Bye, meow, and skol!
