Becky Peterson passed away at home on the evening of January 5, 2023, following a short illness. She was 68 years old.
Becky was born in Moab on September 17, 1954, to Barbara ‘Bobbie’ and Sylvester Domenick. She graduated from Grand County High School in 1972.
Becky married Carl Bierschied and they had one daughter, Jamie Lynn Bierschied, in 1975. After the couple divorced, Becky married David Warner and they had a daughter, Sadie Warner, in 1979. Later, Becky met and married Scott Peterson, who had returned to live in Moab after spending most of his life in southern California.
Becky lived almost her entire life in the Moab area with brief stints in Steamboat Springs, Colorado; Yuma, Arizona; and Deming, New Mexico. In Moab, she worked for local businesses from one end of town to the other and enjoyed interacting with the community.
Becky loved the Moab area, hiking and camping in the desert hills. Her interest in geology led to a lifelong love of finding and collecting pretty rocks. She loved to mow her lawn and spent countless hours caring for the landscape surrounding her home in Spanish Valley. Becky was incredibly creative, whether it was through macrame, beading, cooking, or painting.
Becky was always a social butterfly and loved spending time with her many friends in Moab. She was softhearted and will be remembered for her generous spirit when it came to those in need. Becky had a great sense of humor, laughed a lot, and had some really great times.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Becky is survived by her brother, Warren Domenick; her daughters, Jamie (Kelly) Schraft and Sadie; three grandchildren; and a large extended family in Moab.
A celebration of life and potluck for Becky will be held this Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Aarchway Inn (1551 N. Riverview Drive).
