Staff at Margaret L. Hopkin Middle School announced the December students of the month: Ryker Nichols and Taylin McCurdy!
Seventh-grader Ryker Nichols is easygoing, hardworking, and very kind to everyone. Staff says that he will always help others and is creative, thoughtful, and reliable when he tackles a project in class. Ryker works really hard to maintain exceptionally good grades. He is quiet, but not shy—he is always excited to share his thoughts calmly with others. Ryker is also an avid baseball and basketball player. At recess, he is always ready for a game of basketball—and he will provide the ball! His coaches say he has a great attitude about everything he does. He is totally committed to working hard and being the best he can be for himself and the team. He has a lot of grit and never seems to let adversity get in the way of progress and continuing to work hard. They are grateful to have him as part of the team. He loves to hang out with his family and friends, and he loves his dogs! Ryker likes to read books and celebrate the holidays. His advice to his fellow classmates: “Have a positive mindset, work hard, and be kind!”
Eighth-grader Taylin McCurdy has a sweet and kind nature, according to MLH staff. She looks out for others and offers help without being prompted. She produces good work, contributes in a meaningful way to class discussions, and has a good sense of humor. Taylin is a dedicated worker who doesn’t draw a lot of attention to herself. She has not only good math skills but also good manners and composes herself well in the classroom. She is a great contributor during discussions. Taylin is a very motivated student who takes pride in her work. She has great critical thinking skills and she always applies herself to every task. Taylin’s favorite sport is volleyball and snowboarding is her favorite thing to do. She loves Mexico and the beach and wants to travel to Paris someday. Her dream vehicle is a Ford Raptor, and she really admires people that work hard. Taylin’s advice to others: “Always trust your gut and put yourself out there, don’t be afraid!”
Congrats, Ryker and Taylin!
