The Bureau of Land Management Helitack crew spotted the lightning-caused fire at Moab’s popular Ken’s Lake Recreation Area on June 13, just yards from their heli-base as well as the newly completed Fire Operations building. As red-flag winds pushed the flames quickly through grass and brush, a BLM helicopter responded with bucket drops to contain the blaze. [photo courtesy BLM]
