Community church announces Operation Christmas Child

Moab and neighboring communities have participated for the past eight years as an official drop-off location in support of Operation Christmas Child.

Generous donors across the U.S. collected more than 8.8 million shoe boxes in 2017 for Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse. Packed with toys, school supplies and hygiene items, the gifts are meant to bring joy and the eternal hope of the Gospel to children around the world.

More than 2,500 shoe boxes have been collected in Moab and neighboring communities in the past eight years and the Community Church of Moab said it is anticipating “another wonderful season.”

The Community Church of Moab, 544 Mi Vida Drive, is the area’s drop-off location.

Organizers are collecting filled shoe boxes between Monday, Nov. 12, and Sunday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Collections will also take place on Monday, Nov. 19, but hours are from 8 to 10 a.m. only.

Empty shoe boxes and gift ideas are available for community members who are interested in participating in this year’s collection efforts. For more information, call Donna Hofmann at 435-259-4505 or call the church office at 435-259-7319.

National collection week is Nov. 12-19
