Donald Henry Murray, December 8, 1920 – September 15, 2018

Donald Henry Murray, 97, passed away at his home on Sept. 15.

Murray was born on Dec. 8, 1920 in Seattle, Washington, to Henry and Gladys Stedman Murray. He graduated from high school and worked as a steel worker until March 1940, when he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He became a pilot in the military during WWII and was a survivor of Pearl Harbor. He continued to be a pilot for the U.S. Air Force after leaving the Army Air Corps. After his retirement from the military, he was a pilot for a shipping company.

Murray married Loraaine Abby and they had four children. Loraaine passed away in 1999. In 2000, Murray married Marie Melia in California and they lived in the San Diego area. Marie passed in 2008. In 2010, he moved to Moab to be with family.

Murray was a generous, dedicated and loving father and will be missed.

He is survived by three daughters, Kitty (Kenny) Yonaka; Lory (Harvey) Rogers; and Patty (Bud) Meachem; A son, Jim Murray; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

At Murray’s request, cremation has taken place and a military graveside service will take place at a later date.
