The Grand County High School softball team’s season came to an end with a fifth-place finish in the state 3A tournament on Friday, May 18, as the Lady Red Devils fell 9-4 to Carbon, following a seven-run sixth inning from the Lady Dinos at the Spanish Fork Softball Complex.
Grand had a 4-2 lead following a two-run home run by senior Tyra Robertson in the top of the sixth inning before Grand’s relief pitching gave way to Carbon’s outburst. The game was delayed because of a Grand protest, as the Lady Red Devils contended that a player who wasn’t on the lineup cards entered the game for the Lady Dinos. Carbon lost in the next round 11-10 to Manti. Grantsville defeated Union 6-1 on Saturday, May 19, in the championship game.
