Moab City Police Officer Larry Velasquez stands in front of one of the police department’s new Ford SUV Police Interceptors during the town’s Fourth of July fireworks display.
The department maintains a fleet of 20 vehicles and will be transitioning from its Dodge Chargers to the Interceptors over the next few years. Animal Control will receive three Ford F-150 pickups.
Sgt. Bret Edge said that the department expects to see a significant decrease in maintenance costs by using a local Ford dealer for any warranty issues, and that the larger vehicles will better accommodate the increasing amount of equipment carried by officers.
