Helen M. Knight Elementary’s November Student of the Month is Pierson Vagts.
Pierson is a third-grade student in Ms. JoLynn Torgerson’s class. He is the son of Thatcher and Kelly Vagts.
Torgerson said it isn’t always easy to step into a new situation, which is one reason why she’s so proud of Pierson.
“He’s had such a positive impact on our class and here at HMK,” she said. “I challenged Pierson to learn about a new Chromebook app on his own and become the ‘expert.’ He willingly took on this challenge, and then presented the information to the class and got everyone started on their own project. It was awesome!”
Pierson’s ability to express his ideas clearly, both verbally and through writing, make him an excellent partner and leader in the classroom, Torgerson said.
“He’s very sensitive to the thoughts and opinions of others, and he enhances our group discussions through his insightful comments,” she said. “He’s very respectful towards everyone, and his grin simply lights up our room. We’re so happy to have him as a member of our school community.”
