Grand County Middle School’s Students of the Month are seventh-grader Sam Kesavadhana and eighth-grader Macray Ellis.
School officials said that Sam has been a “wonderful student” since day one.
“He never fails to come to class with a huge smile on his face and is often getting excited about what’s going on in class before the bell rings,” they said. “He is frequently seen helping those around him and always remembers his materials. He is a great role model, a young man who is kind to others and someone with a warm heart that both his peers and teachers enjoy to be around. His positive attitude makes him a great choice for student of the month!”
Sam’s favorite class is math. He likes engineering and has a good knowledge of computers and technology. He also likes to build Lego machines.
He wants to be a pilot. Sam’s favorite book is “The Rithmatist” by Brandon Sanderson.
Sam’s advice to others is, “Try to get ‘H’s’ in citizenship by helping other students and the teachers.”
GCMS teachers say that Macray always goes above and beyond expectations.
“He immediately comes into class ready to learn and eager to do so,” one teacher said. “He takes care of all of his responsibilities in my class with enthusiasm and attention to detail. He has exemplary participation, adds to class discussions and is always reliable to be engaged and on task. Through his competition and great rapport with his classmates, he elevates not only his own learning but also those around him. Macray is a very good example of a responsible student and for this reason the eighth-grade teachers chose him as Student of the Month.”
Macray likes playing baseball and football, and he also likes to hunt and ride his motorcycle. He enjoys spending time in the mountains and being with his family and friends.
Macray’s advice to others is, “You work for what you get.”
