Vacation rental management company Vacasa announced this week that it will assume management of 118 homes previously managed by Accommodations Unlimited of Moab.
The acquisition will mark Vacasa’s entrance into the Moab market and will significantly enhance the company’s portfolio. Vacasa will hire several additional employees to manage operations in the region.
Accommodations Unlimited of Moab has operated for seven years under owner Steve Mayne. Vacasa, which has made 16 acquisitions in 2016, announced plans to expand in new and existing regions earlier this year.
“Over the past seven years that I have owned Accommodations Unlimited, there has been tremendous tourism growth in Moab,” Mayne said. “I am very excited to welcome Vacasa to Moab as they bring management experience and marketing expertise that will take vacation rentals to the next level here. During our transition over the past several months, I have been highly impressed with the Vacasa team, and I am convinced that this relationship will be a positive and rewarding experience for both our guests and property owners.”
Since its inception in 2009, the Portland, Oregon-based Vacasa has grown every year to now manage more than 4,000 homes across the U.S. and four other countries.
“This acquisition is the most significant purchase we have made this year and we are thrilled to be working with a premier rental company like Accommodations Unlimited of Moab,” Vacasa founder and CEO Eric Breon said. “Steve and his employees have earned an excellent reputation in the community by managing some of the most beautiful homes in this remarkable natural destination, and we look forward to building upon their great work as part of the community here.”
Mayne will act as an ambassador for Vacasa in the coming months, and his son-in-law, Daniel, will join Vacasa as a local operations manager overseeing day-to-day logistics.
