A 68-year-old La Sal man was killed this week during a traffic accident on U.S. Highway 191 south of Moab.
Stephen Barnett was traveling southbound in his 2006 Dodge Durango near milepost 113 at about 8:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, when he passed a slower-moving semi-truck in a double-lane passing zone.
The Utah Highway Patrol reported that Barnett drifted over into the northbound travel lane, striking another semi-truck head on.
Barnett was killed upon impact, while a passenger inside the vehicle was flown to Grand Junction, Colorado, for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The occupants of the semi-truck received minor injuries.
