Grand County High School student Emilia Cubelos has been admitted to Stanford University’s High School Summer College Program, and her family is asking for the community’s support to help her get there.
The Cubelos family needs to raise $14,000 to cover the costs of tuition and dormitory boarding for the program, which would allow her to take freshman-level courses alongside university students.
Anyone who is able to help is encouraged to drop by Mountain America Credit Union at 1047 S. Main St., where the family has set up a special fundraising account for Emilia. To make a donation, please mention Emilia by name and inform a Mountain America Credit Union teller that the money should go to her Stanford account.
Moab resident Molly McClish said that Emilia is an exceptional and gifted student, and she’s hoping that others will join her in supporting Emilia’s goals.
“Experiences like this are critical for students like Emilia,” McClish said.
