Dear Editor:
Understand it isn’t about a new cell phone, TV sets, cars, clothes, or the latest video game that will be out of date in six months. It isn’t about a vacation, a necklace, a ring, power tool, football, running shoe an iPod or anything else you can hold in your hands. None of those things has anything to do with Christmas. Those things are nice, and it is fun to give and receive gifts, but those things are only pale reflections of the real gift of Christmas.
The real gift of Christmas is a world-changing, life-changing gift. The real gift of Christmas will change you from a lost soul into a found sheep of the Good Shepherd. The author of Christmas will change you from being lost time and space to being one with the God who created the universe, everything in it and most importantly – you. The real gift of Christmas is the eternal love of God, given freely to you.
We love because He first loved us… and this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also. (1 John 4:20-21).
Jesus said, Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. (John 14:27).
….I came that they might have life and have it more abundantly. (John 10:10).
May you accept the greatest gift of all and have a truly joyous and Merry Christmas and a fruitful new year.
