Carma Stainbrook, October 4, 1937 – August 26, 2014

Our angel, Mother Carma Jean Olsen Stainbrook returned to her Heavenly Home on August 26, 2014, just 4-1/2 months after the passing of her sweetheart and husband of 58 years, Merlyn. Living without him was very hard, but she proved each day that she had great strength, even surprising herself.

She was born on October 4, 1937 in Santa Monica, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd B. Olsen and Etta Johnson Olsen of Moab, and her husband Merlyn J. Stainbrook. She was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She loved everything in its place. She was very organized and efficient. She and Dad enjoyed many traveling adventures. She spent countless hours creating her family picture books and decorating her home. She loved The San Antonio Spurs. The beautiful views from her Spring Creek, Nev. home brought her great peace and joy. Lady, mom’s faithful dog, will miss her devoted care and friendship.

Survivors include: brother Melvin (Dianne) Olsen of Summerville, S.C.; children Vickie (Harold) Remund of Midway, Utah; Kerry (Tricia) Stainbrook of Lincoln, Calif.; Kellie (Daryle) Carroll of Elko, Nev.; Shawn (Colleen) Stainbrook of Carson City, Nev.; Cherie (Blake) Teansky of Hotchkiss, Colo.; Kimberly (Randy) Clift of Tolleson, Ariz.; 20 grandkids and 11 great grandkids.

We knew it would be very hard to fill dad’s shoes after he passed such a short time ago. Though mom was strong, she just couldn’t go on without her sweetheart. We think that she died peacefully of a broken heart. We are so grateful for the promise of the resurrection and forever families and all of the memories that we hold in our hearts. We love you mom.

There will be a brief graveside memorial service on Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Valley, south of Moab, at 11 a.m. All family and any friends or acquaintances that would like to attend are welcome.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.SpanishValleyMortuary.com
