Heila Ershadi beat Jeff Davis in a three-way race for two at-large Moab City Council seats during the election held Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Councilman Kyle Bailey, who has served on the council for 12 years, received the most votes with 522. Challenger Ershadi received 445. Davis, who has also served on the council for 12 years, lost his seat by receiving only 378 votes.
Dave Sakrison, who ran unopposed for Moab City Mayor, received 686 votes.
Moab City voter turnout was twenty-eight percent, with a total of 777 voters.
David Erley, the mayor of the Town of Castle Valley, was challenged with a write-in campaign by Oscar Duncan. Erley retained his seat by receiving 53 votes to Duncan’s 36.
Tory Hill retained her two-year seat on the town council, as did Jazmine Duncan for her four-year seat; as both ran unopposed in the Town of Castle Valley.
Tom Stengel, Gary Wilson and Mike Holyoak retained their seats on the Spanish Valley Water and Sewer Improvement District board. Stengel received 189 votes; Gary Wilson received 187 and Holyoak received 185. Challenger Bill Love received 117 votes and was unable to unseat any of the boardmembers.
