Harry Richard Cleaveland Sr. went home to be with his Lord Sept. 10, 2013, at the VA Medical Center, Grand Junction, Colo.
Harry was born on June 28, 1923 at Colbran, Colo., to Joseph Grover and Mattie Rello Sloniker Cleaveland. The family moved to Fisher Valley, Grand County, Utah about 1934 and they lived there until about August of 1938, when they moved down to Moab. He was married to June Sly on June 27, 1947 in Moab until their divorce in 1989.
Harry was a World War II veteran. He was in the Army and served in the European theater.
He loved hunting, fishing and rocking hounding and was a member of the Points and Pebbles Rock club for many, many years. He was a hard worker and worked many jobs during his life.
Harry is survived by one sister, Alice Fern (Al) Starbuck, Moab; two brothers: Benjamin David (Sandy) Cleaveland, Grace, Idaho and Sidney Cleaveland (Navidad), Moab; four children, Harry R (Karen) Cleaveland Jr, Cortez, Colo.; Terry (Teri) Cleaveland, Grand Junction, Colo.; Daniel (Leah) Cleaveland, Cortez, Colo. and Tracey Clark (Robert Hotz), Moab; eleven grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers: Freethias, Oscar, Joseph (Jr.), Thomas, and William; Sisters: Guyda, Rosetta and Sarah; son David and daughter Rhea; grandson, Troy and granddaughter Cassandra.
